Dr. Felix Nwaishi is an Associate Professor in Ecosystem Ecology and Climate Change at Mount Royal University. He shared an overview of his research with the ALIDP Research and Monitoring Working Group in June 2026, exploring the role of constructed wetlands as multi-functional green infrastructure, with applications extending beyond conventional stormwater management. The presentation highlighted opportunities to integrate wetlands into urban systems for stormwater treatment, water reuse, and industrial applications, while recognizing that these systems can deliver multiple environmental and operational benefits simultaneously.

One of the key themes of the presentation was the influence of land use on stormwater quality. Findings suggest clear differences in pollutant profiles between residential and industrial catchments, prompting discussion around the underlying drivers of these patterns.
