He is well versed in environmental protection measures such as low impact development (LID), riparian setbacks, and detention facilities. In 2004, Craig worked on the Silver Ridge development, which was British Columbia’s first large-scale single-family residential subdivision that successfully met stringent Department of Fisheries water quantity and quality criteria through the use of roadside and on-lot rain gardens, infiltration, and detention. He was part of the project team for the bioretention/ bioswale and resilient landscaping practices modules for the City of Calgary’s LID Design Guidelines Manual. He is also on the technical committee for the Canadian Standard Association (CSA) Group’s W201- Construction of Bioretention Systems.
Craig has worked for Kerr Wood Leidal Associates Ltd. for more than 20 years and, in August 2012, he moved from Vancouver to Calgary to lead KWL’s new branch office. He is keen to dispel barriers to and myths about LIDs through education, so that they become commonplace in our industry.
