“New Thinking” - A Roadmap to Innovation and Clean Economy by Sustainable Prosperity

A report entitled “New Thinking” released by Sustainable Prosperity recommends the implementation of a national strategy to advance the clean-tech sector through policies, procurement standards, and practices that drive investment, research, and development such as Ontario has done for the water sector.  According to Sustainable Prosperity Canada faces 2 critical innovation opportunites:  1. enable traditional industries to reinvent themsevles in a low-carbon economy and 2. build capacity in the emerging clean-tech sector. 

In addtion, the Report identifies best practices in harnessing economic instruments—such as Ontario’s Green Bond program for financing clean infrastructure projects and stormwater pricing—to ensure economic success is aligned with environmental objectives.
