Making the Business Case for Green Infrastructure in Your Community, January 2015

Six communities in Ontario participated in green infrastructure design charrettes. In addition to written descriptions, types and sizes of green infrastructure, sketches and illustrations, a customized cost-benefit matrix was developed for each site redesign.

Conclusions drawn from the charrettes:

- current policy, planning, finance and development practices undervalues the contribution of green infrastructure;

- discussion is encouraged regarding different options for development and redevelopment at the local and neighborhood scale that recognizes and values the contribution of green infrastructure in addressing stormwater, heat island effects, local employment opportunities and healthier and more sustainable communities.
