Anton Skorobogatov B.Sc., M.E.Des.

Vice-President

MAGNA Engineering Services

Anton is an interdisciplinary professional, who is successfully balancing his commitments as an environmental design consultant and a PhD Candidate at the University of Calgary’s Schulich School of Engineering, leading a multi-year field investigation of bioretention performance. He recently took the position of Research & Development Lead at MAGNA Engineering Services Inc.

Anton started his career with Source2Source in 2012 while also working on a Master of Environmental Design, which focused on investigating the impacts of roots on hydraulic properties of soils. Over the years, Anton had the opportunity to be involved in design, inspection, and monitoring of multiple LID, landscape design, and stormwater management projects. One such project, namely Okotoks Operations Centre Living Soils Filtration, led to further pursuit of his academic career. A designated research site with a focus on bioretention performance was created as part of the project, and Anton enrolled in the PhD program in 2016 to be a part of this unique opportunity. The research grew to be of regional significance as it benefited from the support of many sponsors and partners.

Anton is also the current vice-president of the Alberta Low Impact Development Partnership, and the Chair of the Research and Monitoring Working Group, which provides necessary perspective on the practical needs and challenges of LID implementation.
